Piezomagnetic switching of the anomalous Hall effect in an antiferromagnet at room temperature

چکیده

Piezomagnetism couples strain linearly to magnetic order producing magnetization. Thus, unlike magnetostriction, it enables bidirectional control of a net moment. If this effect becomes large at room temperature, may be technologically relevant, similar its electric analogue, piezoelectricity. To date, however, the studies piezomagnetic have been primarily restricted antiferromagnetic (AF) insulators cryogenic temperatures. Here we report discovery piezomagnetism in metal temperature. Strikingly, by using AF Weyl semimetal Mn$_3$Sn, known for nearly magnetization-free anomalous Hall (AHE), find that an application small uniaxial 0.1 % can both sign and size AHE. Our experiment theory show AHE distinctly from magnetization, which will useful spintronics applications.

Switching of a large anomalous Hall effect between metamagnetic phases of a non-collinear antiferromagnet

The anomalous Hall effect (AHE), which in long-range ordered ferromagnets appears as a voltage transverse to the current and usually is proportional to the magnetization, often is believed to be of negligible size in antiferromagnets due to their low uniform magnetization. However, recent experiments and theory have demonstrated that certain antiferromagnets with a non-collinear arrangement of ...

Room-temperature quantum Hall effect in graphene.

The quantum Hall effect (QHE), one example of a quantum phenomenon that occurs on a truly macroscopic scale, has attracted intense interest since its discovery in 1980 and has helped elucidate many important aspects of quantum physics. It has also led to the establishment of a new metrological standard, the resistance quantum. Disappointingly, however, the QHE has been observed only at liquid-h...

Temperature dependence of the intrinsic anomalous Hall effect in nickel

The unusual temperature dependence of the anomalous Hall effect (AHE) in Ni is investigated by an experimental approach which enables us to extract the intrinsic anomalous Hall conductivity over the whole temperature range. In stark contrast to the existing literature, the intrinsic contribution in Ni is found to be strongly temperature dependent between 5 and 150 K, where the corresponding mag...

Anomalous Hall effect governed by electron doping in a room-temperature transparent ferromagnetic semiconductor.

Ferromagnetic semiconductors are believed to be suitable for future spintronics, because both charge and spin degrees of freedom can be manipulated by external stimuli. One of the most important characteristics of ferromagnetic semiconductors is the anomalous Hall effect. This is because the ferromagnetically spin-polarized carrier can be probed and controlled electrically, leading to direct ap...
